Keith
Scott has been writing and playing jazz
since his early teenage years. Some of the highlights of his college
years include being selected as student leader of the award winning
West Chester University Jazz Ensemble and winning a Downbeat Magazine
scholarship to Berkely School of Music for his big band arrangement
of "Here's That Rainy Day." His original composition
called "Outside In" arranged for big band brought rave
reviews form jazz pianist Marian McPartland (judging the Villanova
Jazz Festival). She labeled it "a very creative original
chart." Currently, Keith has been on the concert stage with
jazz greats Gabe Baltazar and Slyde Hyde and also holding down
a regular gig at Da Smoke House in Waikiki every Friday and Saturday.
Scott moved to Oahu in May of 2001 and almost immediately went
to work on his new CD called Waikiki, which features his piano
and brass artistry on eight original compositions and three covers.
Keith's live performances are sorely missed in the Tampa Bay area,
but at least now we have this excellent CD to help fill the void
until we get to catch him again in person.
