About This CD
These works are dialogues of spontaneous creativity, flowering plants in an exotic musical garden. Each piece is an exploration, a venturing forth in to the unknown, alive to each harmony, motive, rhythm, and color. We press the "record" button, thrilled with the process of listening and responding, and often surprised at what we hear. Listeners tell us they appreciate this mystery: the music being born as they hear it, especially for their ears, influenced by their presence, and even by the way they listen. They say it sounds "fresh".

Klaus’ last name--Liebetanz--inspired the title "Lovedance" as the name for this series of improvisational CDs, intended to span several years. By following the CDs in order--"First Release", "Second Release", etc., the listener will hear the evolution of our musical language through time. It is a fascinating challenge for us, one which we trust will equally fascinate our audience.
We have purposefully omitted titles, so as not to divert attention from the music.
Those legendary masters of improvisation, Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Liszt, and many others, left little record of their outpourings. In Beethoven’s case, observers reported that his improvisations were expressive and moving beyond even his compositions. Creator and performer were one.
We hope this project encourages a renaissance of concert improvisation, an opening of new vistas, and new challenges for performers and audiences alike.
